What happens when you let your dog off its lead when on a walk ?
My guess is it buggers off, and then the next time you take it off lead, it does the same. So why not help yourself and yourdog with a longline, giving your pup / dog freedom but without the fear of it ignoring your recall command.
Contrary to popular belief you dont carry then end around like a normal lead, you actually stand on it, when you need to, to enforce your recall command. If your dog is then shown the right way to recall and is successful and rewarded everytime it comes back, Instead of meeting you in a mood after half an hour chasing it around the woods. Its going to want to come back.
Now if you have food trained your dog, and it recalls with some cooked chicken in a hall somewhere great, but that cooked chicken is probably not going to cut it when its the dogs choice between that and the chasing of a squirrel !!
Do yourself a favour, and stop allowing your dog to get it wrong. Connect the longline before you left your dog off lead, and give it controlled freedom EVERYWHERE!
Not sure how it works, Then Steve is happy to book a 121 with you in the real world and show you how it does work !
DOnt take our word for it, One recent 121 outcome in the woods in Breckland Norfolk, resulted in this review of what we can do
"When I first read the reviews about Steve and his training I was convinced that they were too good to be true. He seemed to perform miracles on Norfolk's most unruly dogs, but with a 7 month old incredibly stubborn, delinquent, hyper Labrador, who I couldn't control when out, I decided to give it a go. It turns out Steve really can perform miracles! After just one 121, I suddenly have a dog that no longer drags me around on a walk, but stays calmly at my side, something I was convinced would take months to fix. Following our second 121 today in the woods, he didn't vanish into the undergrowth and beyond like normal, he stayed with and responded to me working on a long line. The new clearer boundaries seemed to have rubbed off with his behaviour round the house too. (He now gets off the sofa when told instead of rolling over). Overall, it doesn't matter how unruly your dog is, Steve will be able to help and like me, you'll only wish you found him earlier!"
