You are out for a nice walk with your dog, and suddenly you hear the dulcet tones of owner of an out of control dog informing you .....
"Its' OK he / she Is Friendly"
Which when you translate into proper English means, They have absolutely no control of their dog, and what it does when it is off lead. So they try to disguise their lack of control as an introduction for the dog to invite itself into the space you and your dog currently occupy.
Then whilst your dog, calmly going about his or her walk suddenly finds the local K9 brat in its face and then round its back end sniffing its backside, as if we have given permission for this unwanted pain in the arse to assault our dog.
Whilst at the same time, the handler wanders over with little to no urgency, to 'Once again' highlight the poor manners and lack of recall or control by excitedly telling you that he is friendly to other dogs and try to remove their dog from yours. You may even hear the other classic "He has never done that before" Knowing damn well its constantly doing it !
You will also tell how much control they don't have when they finally wrestle their dog away from yours, and clip it to a retractable lead ! Enabling the dog to start pulling the owner in the direction of another dog.
There are several things in dog training that are guaranteed, in this case its a really simple one..... If you have no control of your dog onlead, then you are going to have even less when you stupidly let the dog off lead.
Now, my clients and future clients are in no way stupid, that's why they come, if needed to get their dog sorted. Those people that do nothing about it, now they are the stupid ones, and if you look carefully you will see at least one on every walk you take with your dog.
So don't be the stupid one that does nothing about their control of their dog, but instead makes lame excuses for their own failings in training their dog. Get in touch, let me know what you need help with and we can get you on the road to a more controllable dog.
